Yes, it can reduce the look of a “gummy” smile by reducing the among of gum tissue. That makes teeth look longer.
How is the crown lengthening procedure performed?
The surgeon numbs the area and cuts excess gum tissue and some bone. They reposition remaining gum and stitches it to expose more of the tooth root.
Is crown lengthening done under anesthesia or sedation?
We use local anesthesia in most cases. A sedative is used sometimes if the patient requests it.
What is the recovery like after crown lengthening?
You’ll need to avoid strenuous activity for about three days. Full healing takes around three months.
Does crown lengthening require multiple visits?
No, we do it as an outpatient procedure in one visit.
