Gum grafting is done when periodontitis has destroyed gum tissue and it needs to be replaced.
It is needed when gum disease destroys enough tissue that the tooth roots are exposed.
It can be one on one tooth or several, depending on the case.
A dentist will examine you and could recommend gum grafting. You will go to a periodontist who will take a look at the pockets developed between your gums and teeth and measure how much your gums have recessed. They will either recommend going ahead with surgery or will suggest it be monitored for a while
We can discuss your needs and our
recommendations before you schedule surgery.
The procedure involves both harvesting and placing the tissue around the gums as well as stitching the tissue to the gums.
Charisma Dental has periodontists and dentists who can help treat gum disease and perform any necessary surgeries including gum grafting. Make an appointment so one of our skilled and experienced dentists can examine your gums and help you treat gum disease.
