Intraoral Camera

Using the Intraoral Camera

One of the new tech items we at Charisma Dental use is an intraoral camera. We call it our magic movie-maker wand. It is a wand-like instrument that we put in a patient’s mouth to get a video of their inner mouth. It is a great way to show the patient what is going on inside their mouth and explain our diagnosis.

How an Intraoral Camera Works

Images from the wand go into the computer to make a movie and pictures of the mouth.
An intraoral camera works pretty simply. It is linked digitally to a computer at the dental chair’s side.
This all happens in just a few minutes. The scan takes between 15 and 45 minutes.

Accurate Detection

The intraoral camera is highly accurate and can detect tooth wear and surface loss with an accuracy of between 97 and 98 percent. That enables us, as dental professionals, to get early detection of cavities or other issues.
